LPG is heavier than air. This means LPG will flow along floors and tend to settle in low spots. The danger with this is that this can cause a possible explosion if the mixture of LPG and air is within the explosive limits and there is an ignition source. Another danger is suffocation due to LPG displacing air, causing a decrease in oxygen concentration.
At Matsa Energy, we take safety of our customers and employees very seriously. Our employees have the Zera training certificate and we encourage the use of PPE at all times to minimize hazards. Customers are encouraged to stand far away from the filling cage or filling stations and children are prohibited from being near filling areas.
For the safe home use of LPG, we advise our valued customers to NOT spray aerosols of any type (especially for flies etc.) near LPG when it is on or before you turn it on.
We ask that our customers observe the many warning signs (‘No Smoking’, ‘No Cell phone use’) that are visible at each station, and also to be aware of Emergency and Exit signs.
LPG cylinders must be updated to new standards in safety as per SAZ regulations. Customers are advised to keep cylinders upright at all times to minimize hazards. Customers are encouraged to visit the ZERA website http://www.zera.co.zw for further clarification on LPG.
